Wood is a video installation consisting of animations, sounds, music, and sculptures. The rave and fantasy-inspired installation is an animated film whose theme is rooted in the idea of meritocracy—exploratory work in how it affects our way of thinking and self-worth through the achievements we make.
It was also based on my thoughts during my burnout four years ago.
"After days of wandering in the woods, our hero meets the witch of knowledge. Can she help our hero to turn to the right course of society? Be a great example and at the top of the game."
Oscar Häggström was born in 1993 in Gothenburg, Sweden and is currently studying his MFA at Umeå Academy of Fine Arts.Work includes VR, film, hand-drawn animation, sound and sculpture in installations settings. His practice circles around the existential question of where the body begins and technology ends in everyday life.
His works has been shown at places such as NEVVEN, Göteborgs Konstförening, Gislaved Konsthall, Köttinspektionen (SE), Galleri 54 (SE), Frederiksborg Castle (DE) and Matsudo (JP) among others.
