The National Museum – Alexandros Soutzos Museum and the B & M Theocharakis Foundation present in the latter’s premises the exhibition The Human Form in Greek Painting. 20th Century .
Seventy-three singular modern Greek paintings are exhibited, with the aim to illustrate the adventure of human figure in the history of Greek painting during the 20th century.
This exhibition allows the visitor to learn that human figure has been a favourite subject for artists throughout the 20th century. Furthermore, this thematic exhibition gives us the opportunity to trace the gradual disengagement of the human figure from the academic naturalism, and its expressive liberation, as well as the influence that the early 20th century avant-garde movements exerted on modern Greek painting.
