As part of On-Site at Atlanta Contemporary, Good Weather presents The Best Is The Least We Can Do, a group exhibition of work by Ian Jones, Katie Wynne, Aaron Blendowski, Irini Miga, and Willie Wayne Smith. The sculptural “landscape” on the floor by Ian Jones (Desert for a Coat Rack) grounds the exhibition in a clearly stated position—a toppled form, an extinguished state—which is modulated throughout: Irini Miga’s smoked-cigarette butts embedded in the walls (A Scratch on the Wall, A Moment Embedded In), Willie Wayne Smith’s gum sticks erected as demolished lintelled structures that line the bottom edge of the room (Soliloquy of the Gum Sticks), Katie Wynne’s floating shirt—empty and airy—pulled gently by strings guided by marionette handles on slow motors (Sunfish), and Aaron Blendowski’s polished stainless steel mirror with a punctuated look of astonishment (to be seen from earth)—an introspective companion to Noguchi’s conceptual model for a proto-earthwork Sculpture to Be Seen From Mars (1947).

Good Weather is a contemporary art gallery in North Little Rock, Arkansas founded in 2011 by Haynes Riley in his brother’s suburban garage. It has made a decentralizing impact on the presentation of contemporary art in the United States and is dedicated to exhibiting critically-engaged artists who represent a breadth of significant practices in the field. The gallery is an intimate kunsthalle space that has, over the course of five years, presented thirty-seven solo exhibitions and participated in fairs at NADA Miami Beach, NADA New York, Material Art Fair in Mexico City, ARTBandini Los Angeles, and SUNDAY in London.
