THE NIGHT IS DARK ENOUGH FOR US TO SEE IT - TERESA SOLAR ABBOUD-

A free diver unable to go back to the water surface. A sign language translator that looses control over his hands. A small fish that acts as reflecting mirror on the pelagic depths. Teresa Solar explores these characters’ histories through works that refer to sign language, to gestures and to the surface of what is not visible. She tries to make improbable connections between the bottom of the sea, the incomprehensible materiality of language and the translation of the unintelligible in order to give shape to what remains foreign to ourselves.

Teresa Solar Abboud lives and works in Madrid. Amongst other projects she has had solo exhibitions at Formato Cómodo Gallery (Madrid), at the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, and Matadero Madrid. She has recently been awarded the "Generaciones" prize by Caja Madrid, the production grant of the CAM and the one from the Fundación Marcelino Botín. She is currently producing her latest film call Al Haggara, shot in Egypt.
