The Door to Hell is located near Darvaz, Turkmenistan. It is a natural gas deposit that was discovered while soviet geologist were drilling for natural gas back in 1971. Unfortunately the drilling unit collapsed making this large hole. To avoid the gas from leaving a poisonous discharge they decided to burn it off. Except the fire never went out and it is still burning today. A very peculiar man made place, it is said that there is recent plans to fill it in. So if your like me and really would like to visit it you best be going soon!
